Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library own, maintain, and improve the library building and grounds. Your support enriches our community of readers and learners.
Building a Community of Learners
Our library is an essential cultural and educational resource, growing in importance as it supports a community of learners.
As owner of the library building and grounds, the Friends organization plays a critical role in the library’s daily operations, as well as the facility’s future.
With an annual maintenance and improvement plan, the Friends make sure the library facility continues to serve Wheeler, Nehalem, Manzanita, our rural communities, and visitors to the area far into the future.
Our partner, the Tillamook County Library system, provides all library materials and staff, but without our unique public-private partnership our communities might well not have robust, quality library services in an attractive, useful facility.
The Friends are also dedicated to maintaining an adequate financial reserve so we can respond to future needs, including potentially expanding the facility. Future needs may also include supporting the community in a major economic downturn or a natural disaster.
Thanks to annual Friends memberships, donations, fundraising activities and successful grant applications, the Friends’ financial reserves help ensure that the aging library building and grounds remain in top-notch condition, able to serve the community now and in to the future.
