North Tillamook Library Friends Book Swap

Stock up on great reading for the summer and support your local library! Join us on May 15-16 at the Pine Grove Community House for a Book Swap & Donation Drop, sponsored by North Tillamook Library Friends (NTLF). The Friends provide all funds for maintaining the building and grounds of our local library branch in Manzanita.

On Friday, from 10 am to 2:30 pm, bring up to 4 boxes of fiction, general non-fiction, and children's books in good condition.  Please no textbooks, CDs, DVDs, or reference books.

On Saturday, from 9 am to 3 pm, buy a book bag for $10 and fill it with new-to-you books! It is that easy! There is no cost to come and look, and you may buy as many bags as you like.

Come join us for this fun event in support of The Friends. Donate by swapping out your old books, filling a bookbag with new-to-you books, or both! Are you curious about The Friends? We’ll have a table where you can become a member, make a monetary donation, and have all your questions answered.

The Friends thank the Pine Grove Community House for the use of its facility as a Sponsored Program.

Donate Books Towards Our 2026 Book Swap

Do you have books in good condition that you would like to donate to a great cause?  Bring them to the Manzanita Library! The North Tillamook Library Friends of the Library are preparing for a book swap in mid-May, and are collecting books in good condition. Please no textbooks, CDs, DVDs, reference books, or damaged books. Fiction, general non-fiction, and children’s books are in demand! You will be able to drop off the books you want to donate at the actual event on May 15 at the Pine Grove Community House.

It is easier for our intrepid volunteers if you can wait until the 15th for donating books. However, if that doesn't work for your schedule,  between now and May 14th,  drop books off at the branch at 571 Laneda Ave, Manzanita, between 10am and 1pm, or 1:30 and 6pm, Monday through Saturday. Thank you in advance for your book donations.

This book swap is sponsored in part by the City of Manzanita #manzanitaoregon and is part of the Pine Grove Community Use Program.

Local Artists: Did You Know?

The North Tillamook Library Friends regularly provides an opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work in the Library for one month. We have openings for December 2023 and January 2024. If you are interested in the opportunity to show your work on the Library's wallspace, please contact Mary Kyle McCurdy at mkmccurdy7@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you in the Library!

We will start 2024 with a display of the art work of Nancy Bond, whose works include colored pencil, watercolor, collage, and monotypes.

If you are an artist in the north Tillamook County area and are interested in the opportunity to show your work on the library’s wall space, please contact Mary Kyle McCurdy at mkmccurdy7@gmail.com. And if you are interested in the work of any of the artists we have shown, please contact Mary Kyle and she will connect you. We look forward to seeing you in the library!

Karen Small is a painter who has lived in Manzanita for seven years. Most days she paints, writes, and walks on the beach. This is the first showing of her summer un plein air work from 2022 and 2023.

Lauren Oujiri is a photographer living in Nehalem. She has been featured in gallery exhibits and retail environments, self-published two books of photography paired with haiku, her images have been purchased for the home and workplace, and she still considers herself an amateur.

Lauren loves sharing landscapes and intimate moments of our beloved North Coast along with close-ups of flowers, abstracts, and other subjects on social media daily (#laurenoujiri).

Lauren is a mostly self-taught photographer (and artist), and previous work as a graphic designer informs her art. She finds composing the image and fine-tuning the crop gratifying, and usually avoids using the adjustments available for editing digital images, believing the light and color are best when true to life; she does enjoy black and white though, as we see anew with them.

Lauren finds photography calming, illuminating, joyful, educational, and fascinating, and is grateful when people say they experience it that way, too. She believes we all are artists, that the world and each of us benefit from creating art, and, that life is art.
