Annual Book Swap

Book Swap & Donation Drop, Friday & Saturday, May 30-31

Stock up on great reading for the summer and support your local library! Join us on May 30-31 at the Pine Grove Community House for a Book Swap & Donation Drop, sponsored by North Tillamook Library Friends (NTLF). The Friends provide all funds for maintaining the building and grounds of our local library branch in Manzanita.

On Friday, from 10 am to 3 pm, bring up to four boxes of clean, undamaged books to the Pine Grove to donate for the event.

On Saturday, from 9 am to 3 pm, come buy a bookbag and fill it up. A bookbag costs $10, and you can pack it with any books you find at the swap. It is that easy! There is no cost to come and look, and you may buy as many bags as you like.

As a bonus, Linda Kozlowski generously donated all her late husband’s stained glass works to benefit The Friends and Pine Grove. Bill Supak was a well-regarded artist, and over 15 pieces of his work will be available for sale by silent auction bidding on Friday and Saturday.

Do you want to donate books but can’t come on Friday? Drop them off Monday through Thursday, May 26-29, from noon to 3 pm with Kim at 34610 Lodgepole Drive (Pine Ridge).

Come join us for this fun event in support of The Friends. Donate by swapping out your old books, filling a bookbag with new-to-you books, or both! Are you curious about The Friends? We’ll have a table where you can become a member, make a monetary donation, and have all your questions answered.

The Friends thank the Pine Grove Community House for the use of its facility as a Sponsored Program.

Art Show: Featuring Lauren Oujiri

Art Show: Featuring Lauren Oujiri

Lauren Oujiri is a photographer living in Nehalem. She has been featured in gallery exhibits and retail environments, self-published two books of photography paired with haiku, her images have been purchased for the home and workplace, and she still considers herself an amateur.

Lauren loves sharing landscapes and intimate moments of our beloved North Coast along with close-ups of flowers, abstracts, and other subjects on social media daily (#laurenoujiri).

Lauren is a mostly self-taught photographer (and artist), and previous work as a graphic designer informs her art. She finds composing the image and fine-tuning the crop gratifying, and usually avoids using the adjustments available for editing digital images, believing the light and color are best when true to life; she does enjoy black and white though, as we see anew with them.

Lauren finds photography calming, illuminating, joyful, educational, and fascinating, and is grateful when people say they experience it that way, too. She believes we all are artists, that the world and each of us benefit from creating art, and, that life is art.

Community Listening Session

The Tillamook County Library is developing its strategic plan for the next 5 years. Between January and March, the library will be conducting community engagement work to hear what members of the public would like to see from their library in the coming years. This effort will result in a new strategic plan in July 2023 building on highly rated services the library has provided throughout Tillamook County.

This strategic planning event will take place on March 7th at the Manzanita Branch Library starting at 6:00pm. Join Library Director Don Allgeier for a brief overview of the library’s strategic planning process followed by a listening session to provide community members with an opportunity to shape the future of their library.
